LMPD Detective Timothy Davis sped through a stop sign and crashed into two hauling trailers in the parking lot of Taylored Renovations in Mount Washington on May 18. Video surveillance showed Davis was in his unmarked LMPD vehicle.<\/p>\n
The video showed Davis getting out of the car and leaving the scene for several hours before returning to finally call the police. According to arrest reports, Davis told Mount Washington Police officers that the crash had just happened and that he had accidentally run the stop sign.<\/p>\n
Davis also told police he had no alcohol, but blew a .09.<\/p>\n
He was later arrested after the surveillance video showed he had lied about what happened. He was charged with 1st-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, tampering with evidence, and disregarding a stop sign.<\/p>\n
Davis was indicted on the same charges in September.<\/p>\n
In a newly obtained court document, Davis entered a guilty plea for one amended count of 2nd-degree criminal mischief, while all other charges were dropped.<\/p>\n
In exchange for the guilty plea, Davis was conditionally discharged for two years, meaning as long as Davis stayed out of trouble for the next two years, he wouldn\u2019t serve any time. Restitution is still a possibility, but is ultimately up to the Commonwealth to pursue.<\/p>\n
Taylored Renovations owner, Kevin Taylor, has expressed frustration with the situation and how the Metro has handled responsibility. In September, attorneys for the Metro denied Taylor\u2019s claim to get his trailers replaced, which has put him out of thousands of dollars in income.<\/p>\n
Davis was put on administrative leave during the investigation, but in a statement Monday, a spokesperson for the department said Davis resigned from his position in October.
