This is according to a report provided to lawmakers at the December meeting of the legislature\u2019s Tobacco Settlement Agreement Fund Oversight Committee.<\/p>\n
According to the release, the funding has been approved by the Kentucky Agricultural Development Board for the Youth Agricultural Incentives Program, which encourages youth to engage in and explore agricultural opportunities. The program administrator is the Barren County Conservation District.<\/p>\n
According to the release, the funding is derived from the Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement Fund, which was created as a result of the 1998 Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement between four major tobacco product manufacturers and 46 states.<\/p>\n
After the settlement, the General Assembly established the guidelines for the distribution and investment of funds received.<\/p>\n
Additionally, the General Assembly created and established the framework for the Kentucky Agricultural Development Board, which is responsible for distributing a portion of the tobacco settlement funds through the Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund.
