\nOn January 4 at 6:30 p.m., Owensboro Police responded to a report of a physical disturbance in the 3800 block of Brentwood Drive.<\/p>\n

Upon arrival, an officer attempted to detain 20-year-old Vicente Santos of Owensboro who resisted and fled on foot.<\/p>\n
During the pursuit, Santos turned and deliberately tackled the officer to the ground, per the release. He then attempted to take the officer\u2019s service weapon.<\/p>\n
More officers arrived and helped take him into custody. During the encounter, Santos had dropped a bag that contained a loaded extended gun magazine. An investigation revealed the magazine was linked to a firearm.<\/p>\n
Santos was arrested and lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center under a $50,000 cash bond. He was charged with disarming a peace officer, fourth-degree assault dating violence (no visible injury), third-degree fleeing or evading, resisting arrest, third-degree assault (police officer) and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
