Magistrates had asked for Jailer JJ Scarborough to provide information related to the auditor&#8217;s comments. The item had been tabled several months prior to month due to the lack of a in person response from the jailer. <\/p>\n<p>During Tuesday&#8217;s meeting, Jailer Scarborough said that his staff had an account of funds but auditors didn&#8217;t not want staff to use a software on closed network to manage canteen purchases for inmates. He continued by stating the auditors wanted the purchases and record broken down in a spreadsheet that the jail staff developed in house. He said that they had complied with the request but the corrections were delayed by the timeline of when the correction was made the fiscal year was almost over and the auditors were reviewing records that had not be adapted. <\/p>\n<p>Michelle Kail, Executive Director of CASA of the Heartland, detailed efforts across Meade and surrounding counties as Court Appointed Special Advocates for children. The organization is looking for volunteers to work with local families and advocate in the court system. She detailed fund raising efforts for the non-profit organization and various opportunities for involvement in the community.<\/p>\n<p>In other business, the court approved a one time pay adjustment between $500 to $525 for Full time employees and $150 for Part time employees with over 100 hours of work time to reward employees from dividends and a refund received from KACO for keeping worker compensation claims down for the county. Magistrates approved a budget request of $35,000 for Meade County- Brandenburg Industrial Authority to be used for economical development staffing. The court approved the 2025 Meade County Sheriff&#8217;s budget of $2,535,200 which is expected to generate $3,150 in excess fees. They also approved a salary cap of $1,455,000 for the sheriff&#8217;s office. Magistrates approved the County Clerk&#8217;s 2025 budget of $10,829,450 which is projected to produce excess fees in the amount of $152,650. They approved a salary cap of $934,764 for the Clerk&#8217;s office. <\/p>\n<p>After a review of recent bids, the court approved the bids of the $356,047 from Osage for a new ambulance and $107,257 from Emergency Mobile Technologies for a box swap for the Meade County EMS. They also approved a bid from Prodigy Construction of $348,106 for a new building at the Solid Waste and Recycling Center. Magistrates approved a resolution to apply for a Law Enforcement Protection Program grant in the amount of $30,772 for body armor for the deputies in the Sheriff&#8217;s Office.
