\nOldham County police have arrested the man who they say was driving a truck involved in a hit-and-run just over two months ago that killed a pedestrian.<\/p>\n

Jason Cornett, 54, of La Grange, was taken into custody around 2 p.m., January 15, 2025, following a traffic stop near La Grange. Cornett has been booked into the Oldham County Detention Center and charged with Vehicular Homicide When Under The Influence Of Alcohol. He is being held under a $500,000 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court on January 22.<\/p>\n
According to Oldham County police, an arrest warrant for Cornett was obtained after additional evidence found by investigators showed that he was driving under the influence of alcohol on November 11, 2024, when his vehicle struck 75 year-old Margaret E. Preble while she was walking along the shoulder of U.S. 42.<\/p>\n
Preble had left home around 5:30 p.m. to go for a walk. When she didn\u2019t return home before dark, her husband used his phone to find her location. He found her body about 1,000 feet from their home.<\/p>\n
Cornett was originally charged with leaving the scene of an accident and failing to render aid, along with tampering with evidence. He is scheduled to appear in Oldham District Court on January 29 for a preliminary hearing on those charges.<\/p>\n
The other person charged in the case is 23 year-old Zoe Elise Wolfe, also of La Grange. Wolfe is charged with tampering with physical evidence. Police say a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 pickup owned by Cornett was the vehicle that struck Preble. With the help of Kentucky State Police, the Silverado was found November 13 at a repair facility in Corbin, Kentucky. According to police, Wolfe drove the pickup out of Oldham County to a repair facility.
