\u201cThe Kentucky Agricultural Development Board continues to be a good steward of the Tobacco Master Settlement money,\u201d said <\/p>\n
Commissioner of Agriculture and Kentucky Agricultural Development Board Chair Jonathan Shell said in a release the projects approved last week will continue to strengthen the economic viability of Kentucky agriculture creating benefits for farm families and the state as a whole. These projects are funded by the Tobacco Master Settlement money.<\/p>\n
State-funded projects:<\/p>\n
Community Farm Alliance, Inc.: approved up to $868,008 in state funds over two years to continue supporting market and nutrition incentives, increasing access to local food for low-income populations, and leveraging federal funds to support food and farming systems in Kentucky.<\/p>\n
Kentucky State Beekeepers Association: approved up to $109,000 in state funds over two years to support the Certified Kentucky Honey Program.<\/p>\n
Rockcastle County Conservation District: approved up to $3,212 in Rockcastle County funds to purchase exhaust fans for the fairgrounds.<\/p>\n
Rockcastle County Conservation District: approved up to $3,367 in Rockcastle County funds to purchase livestock panels for the fairgrounds.<\/p>\n
County Agricultural Incentive Program (CAIP):<\/p>\n
County Agricultural Incentive Program gives agricultural producers cost-share assistance on practices to allow them to improve and diversify their current farm operations. According to the release the program also covers a wide variety of agricultural enterprises in its 11 investment areas, including, but not limited to: beef and dairy cattle, farm infrastructure, fencing, and water enhancement, equine, forage, goats and sheep, horticulture, poultry, swine, bees and honey, timber and technology, as well as energy efficiency and production, marketing, and value-added production.<\/p>\n
Eleven County Agricultural Incentive Programs were approved by the board in the following counties totaling $1,435,177:
\nBracken County: $322,536
\nBreckinridge County: $300,000
\nDaviess County: $58,575
\nEstill County: $80,000
\nFayette County: $225,000
\nGrant County: $12,000
\nLewis County: $199,007
\nMcLean County: $65,487
\nPike County: $4,000
\nRowan County: $91,000
\nSimpson County: $77,570<\/p>\n
Deceased Farm Animal Removal (DAR):<\/p>\n
The Deceased Farm Animal Removal Program serves as a measure to facilitate the coordination of environmentally sound and cost-effective disposal of deceased livestock for Kentucky producers.<\/p>\n
One Deceased Animal Removal was approved by the board in the following county totaling $2,500.<\/p>\n
Garrard: $2,500<\/p>\n
Youth Agricultural Incentives Program (YAIP):<\/p>\n
Youth Agricultural Incentives Program encourages youth to engage in and explore agricultural opportunities.<\/p>\n
Three Youth Agricultural Incentive Programs were approved by the board in the following counties totaling $80,000:

\nGrant County: $10,000
\nMadison County: $50,000<\/p>\n
