\nThe man suspected of stealing a trailer full of a youth football\u2019s leagues gear was arrested after a high-speed pursuit Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n
Hopkinsville Police attempted to stop a vehicle, being driven by 46-year-old James Phillips, Jr., on the Pennyrile Parkway near the Pembroke Road exit.<\/p>\n
Phillips then reportedly fled at a high rate of speed into traffic and drove through multiple stop lights. The chase reached speeds over 100 miles per hour before Phillips’ vehicle left Casky Lane and drove into a field. He then exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, but police quickly caught him.<\/p>\n
Phillips is accused of stealing a trailer from the Bud Hudson Youth Football League that contained $60,000 worth of equipment.<\/p>\n
At this time, the football gear has not been recovered, but police are looking into leads that point to Phillips being the possible suspect in other thefts.<\/p>\n
Hopkinsville Police said Phillips has been charged with:<\/p>\n
First-degree fleeing or evading (on foot)
\nFirst-degree fleeing or evading (motor vehicle)
\nPossession of a controlled substance, 2nd offense
\nPossession of drug paraphernalia
\nPossession of a handgun by a convicted felon
\nFailure of owner to maintain required inspection
\nFirst-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer
\nFailure to or improper signal
\nReckless driving
\nDisregarding a stop sign
\nDisregarding a traffic light
\nDisregarding or failure to yield to right of way
\nSpeeding 26mph or more
\nFailure to appear
