According to a news release from the agency, the seized shipments containing fake designer jewelry such as watches, bracelets, and rings, came primarily from China and Hong Kong destined for locations across the U.S.<\/p>\n
Had the jewelry been authentic, it would have been worth a combined Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price of more than $27 million. <\/p>\n
Customs and Border Protection said shipments seized from China and Hong Kong made up about 90% of items seized in 2024.<\/p>\n
Authorities said you can protect yourself from buying counterfeit items by buying directly from the trademark holder or authorized retailers. It is also important to know the market value of the item you are buying. Experts said if the price seems too good to be true, it probably is.
