Officials say a car became stuck on Parks Ridge Road, however, upon arrival first responders could not find the driver.<\/p>\n
Ohio County Sheriff Adam Wright says his office was notified of a missing person on Wednesday. He says family members told him 44-year-old Oscar Villanuena left for work early Monday morning and had not been seen since.<\/p>\n
Three days later, a farmer near Parks Ridge Road was checking his flooded fields and spotted the top of a car.<\/p>\n
Numerous agencies, including the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office, Beaver Dam Fire Department and Hartford Fire department responded to the scene for an apparent water rescue.<\/p>\n
Sheriff Wright said once the car was out of the water they realized it was not occupied. Then they launched a boat in the water to check the wood line and that is where they found Villanuena’s body.<\/p>\n
Sheriff Wright believes Villanuena, while driving in the dark early morning, didn\u2019t realize how high the water was. He believes the water was as high as nearby farm fences when Villanuena attempted the crossing.<\/p>\n
As water continues to rise and flooded roads remain around the county, Sheriff Wright is asking everyone to not cross flooded roads even if you are familiar with the area.<\/p>\n
An autopsy for Villanuena will be on Friday morning in Louisville.
