Judge Charles Simms had previously pushed back Steven Lawson\u2019s trial from February 11 to May 27 and moved the venue from Nelson County, where the alleged crimes occurred, to Warren County.<\/p>\n
Lawson\u2019s status hearing lasted less than 10 minutes and Judge Simms denied his legal team\u2019s request for another delay.<\/p>\n
Lawson is one of three men expected to stand trial in connection with Rogers\u2019 disappearance and murder. He was indicted in 2023 on charges of conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors and the FBI reportedly turned over several terabytes of evidence in the case. Lawson\u2019s attorneys argued that the large volume of material left them without enough time to properly review it before trial.<\/p>\n
Brooks Houck, who faces charges of murder and tampering with physical evidence, and Joseph Lawson, charged with conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with evidence, are expected to stand trial together in Warren County beginning June 24.
