\nA federal grand jury in Bowling Green returned an indictment on March 12 charging a Franklin man with distributing child pornography, possessing child pornography, and sexually exploiting children.<\/p>\n

According to the indictment, 27-year-old Joseph N. Roush was charged with:<\/p>\n
one count of distribution of child pornography
\none count of possession of child pornography
\none count of sexual exploitation of children.<\/p>\n
Roush previously made an initial court appearance before a U.S. Magistrate Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky. The court ordered the defendant detained pending trial.<\/p>\n
If convicted, he faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years and a maximum sentence of 70 years in prison. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the sentencing guidelines and other statutory factors.<\/p>\n
There is no parole in the federal system.<\/p>\n
This case is being investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and the Simpson County Sheriff\u2019s Office.
