Owensboro Police Department Emergency Response Team members and Street Crimes Unit detectives executed a search warrant in the 1300 block of Gardendale Avenue.<\/p>\n
An in-depth investigation by Street Crimes Unit led to the identity of 27-year-old William Merriweather as a suspect who was trafficking suspected fentanyl.<\/p>\n
During the search, detectives seized suspected fentanyl pills, synthetic marijuana, over $1000 in cash, a 9 MM handgun, and an AR-style rifle.<\/p>\n
Back in 2017, Merriweather was convicted of numerous felony charges involving multiple cases in 2017 including:<\/p>\n
First-degree robbery
\nSecond-degree robbery
\nReceiving Stolen Property (firearm)
\nPromoting Contraband
\nAll of these convictions resulted in a 16-year prison sentence.<\/p>\n
On March 26, Merriweather was charged with:<\/p>\n
Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st offense (Carfentanyl or Fentanyl) (Enhancement)
\nTrafficking in Synthetic Drugs, 1st offense (Enhancement)
\nPossession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
\nPossession of Handgun by Convicted Felon
\nDrug Paraphernalia<\/p>\n
He was lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center under a $5,000 cash bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 28.
