A powerful line of thunderstorms caused damage across the region Sunday night. The storms produced several tornado warnings across the area.<\/p>\n
National Weather Service in Louisville conducted storm damage surveys in at least four areas on Monday, including Jefferson, Meade, Hardin and Bullitt counties.<\/p>\n
A National Weather Service official said a survey crew in Louisville’s Fairdale neighborhood found damage consistent with at least an EF-1 tornado along Mitchell Hill Road. It had wind speeds estimated around 90 mph. That survey remains ongoing.<\/p>\n
The National Weather Service says a survey team in Bullitt County found more damage consistent with an EF-1 tornado about four miles south of Shepherdsville, just west of KY 61. It had wind speeds estimated to be 105 mph. That survey is also ongoing.<\/p>\n
A third survey crew found evidence of another EF-1 tornado, with 90 mph wind speeds, in eastern Spencer County about two-and-a-half miles southwest of Mt. Eden. That survey is also ongoing.<\/p>\n
Additional damage surveys are possible in Breckinridge, Hardin, Nelson, Bullitt and Spencer counties as well.<\/p>\n
National Weather Service Meteorologist Mike Kochasic is urging residents to stay weather-aware as the potential for more severe weather arrives mid-week that could produce tornadoes, large hail, damaging winds and flooding.<\/p>\n
Thousands of people across the region lost power following the severe line of storms.
