On Friday, President Donald Trump approved Governor Andy Beshear’s request for an emergency disaster declaration.<\/p>\n
Multiple areas were impacted by severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding on Wednesday, April 2.<\/p>\n
In the Louisville area, between five and seven inches of rain have already fallen. Rain is expected to continue into Sunday.<\/p>\n
FEMA has been authorized to “identify, mobilize and provide, at its discretion, equipment and resources necessary to alleviate the impacts of the emergency.”<\/p>\n
“Emergency protective measures, limited to direct federal assistance, under the public assistance program, will be provided at 75% federal funding,” FEMA said in a news release.<\/p>\n
The federal assistance has been approved for all 120 Kentucky counties.
