\nA couple is in custody facing assault charges after an infant was found unresponsive in a Louisville home, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department. <\/p>\n

On Monday, officers were sent out to a home on Dresden Avenue about a 2-month-old boy who was unresponsive.<\/p>\n
The run was later upgraded to CPR in-progress and the infant was taken to Norton Children’s Hospital. The child is currently in critical condition on a ventilator with several brain bleeds, hemorrhaging in both eyes, fractures to his arm and legs, bruising to his head and other injuries. <\/p>\n
The child is still unresponsive. <\/p>\n
A Pediatric Protection Specialist states the near-fatal brain injury is diagnostic of abuse and trauma.<\/p>\n
According to an arrest citation, the child’s father, Cortez Holloway and his girlfriend, Alea Madden were both caring for the infant when the injuries occurred.<\/p>\n
Madden told police the infant was behaving normally when she put him to bed on Sunday night.<\/p>\n
She says while in bed, she heard the infant scream and then go silent and then scream again.<\/p>\n
Madden says she heard Holloway say “shut up, bro.”<\/p>\n
Holloway told police that he left the home on Monday morning and when he last saw the child, he was behaving normally, according to the arrest citation.<\/p>\n
Madden said after Holloway left, she heard the child scream again and when she went to check on him he was not acting normally.<\/p>\n
When Holloway returned, the infant’s body was cold and he was shaking and would not open his eyes, according to the arrest citation.<\/p>\n
Holloway attempted to warm the infant with a space heater. After several hours, Madden called 911. <\/p>\n
According to the arrest citation, the infant received serious injuries, potentially resulting in death.<\/p>\n
Both Holloway and Madden are now facing charges of assault and criminal abuse of a child under 12.
