his wife were sentenced to federal prison on theft, fraud and distribution on controlled substances charges, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney&#8217;s Office, Western District of Kentucky.<!--more--> <\/p>\n<p>Pharmacist Joseph Huff, age 46 of Franklin, was sentenced to three years in prison followed by three years of supervised release for one count of conspiracy to commit theft of medical products, one count of conspiracy to unlawfully distribute controlled substances, twelve counts of health care fraud, one count of aggravated identity theft, and one count of making a false statement.<\/p>\n<p>His wife, 46-year-old Jenifer Huff was sentenced to two years in prison followed by three years of supervised release, for one count of conspiracy to commit theft of medical products, one count of conspiracy to unlawfully distribute controlled substances, and two counts of health care fraud.<\/p>\n<p>According to court documents, the couple conspired to divert oxycodone and hydrocodone from the pharmacy from May 2020 to January 2023. <\/p>\n<p>Jenifer Huff was selling or trading controlled substances for cocaine, methamphetamine, and marijuana, according to court documents.<\/p>\n<p>According to the release, the pair fraudulently billed Kentucky Medicaid for prescriptions that were not ordered by a physician or nurse practitioner.<\/p>\n<p>Joseph Huff also fraudulently billed various insurance companies for brand-name Adderall when generic Adderall was issued to patients.<\/p>\n<p>He also billed an insurance company for a medication that was never given to the patient and falsely reported a pharmacy robbery to the DEA when no drugs were stolen, according to the release.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, Joseph Huff used another medical professional&#8217;s name and National Provider Identifier, a unique 10-digit number used to identify health care providers, to issue prescriptions without the medical professional\u2019s knowledge or consent.<\/p>\n<p>Joseph Huff was ordered to pay $17,518.19 in restitution and Jenifer Huff was ordered to pay $5,730.43 in restitution.<\/p>\n<p>There is no parole in the federal system.<br \/>\nSource:
