Trooper Jarrod S. Lewis, 28, of Hiseville was taken into custody after state police began investigating a 911 hang-up call linked to his home. Multiple callback attempts went unanswered, according to the citation.<\/p>\n
Troopers later located Lewis at Park Methodist Church with his wife, who was in a separate vehicle. He had a cut on his head, according to police.<\/p>\n
The citation states Lewis had become upset and left the residence to \u201ccool off\u201d at the church. When troopers arrived, the truck was still warm to the touch and the keys were in the ignition.<\/p>\n
Trooper Jason Adkinson with Kentucky State Police Post 3 conducted field sobriety tests and determined Lewis was under the influence. A breath test showed his blood alcohol content was .218, nearly three times the legal limit of .08.<\/p>\n
Troopers also noted open containers in the vehicle, including a Pirate Water alcoholic beverage. Lewis told officers he had purchased two Twisted Teas in London around noon, followed by another Twisted Tea and a Pirate Water in Edmonton on his way home.<\/p>\n
Emergency medical services were called to the scene, but Lewis declined treatment.<\/p>\n
Lewis was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol (first offense) and possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle. He was taken to the Barren County Detention Center and released the next day.<\/p>\n
Lewis is scheduled for arraignment on May 29 in Barren County District Court.<\/p>\n
He is also facing a federal indictment related to alleged civil rights violations during his time as a law enforcement officer.<\/p>\n
According to court records, Lewis was indicted on March 4, 2025, on one count of using unreasonable force. He is accused of stomping and kicking someone about the face, head, shoulders, and upper body, according to the indictment.<\/p>\n
That case is ongoing in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky.<\/p>\n
The federal charge is unrelated to the May 7 DUI arrest.
