Court documents say Officer Chase Branson was transporting an inmate to his holding cell in the back of the jail when Branson shoved the incarcerated man into a metal door.<\/p>\n
The man was handcuffed with his hands behind his back when Branson allegedly shoved him.<\/p>\n
According to the court documents, once inside the cell, the man was placed faced down on the floor and restrained by multiple officers.<\/p>\n
Branson allegedly tased the man in his back multiple times.<\/p>\n
Court documents say the man was not resisting when he was shoved or when he was tased. <\/p>\n
The incident was captured on surveillance and multiple body worn cameras, according to court documents.<\/p>\n
Louisville Metro Department of Corrections Maj. Jason Logsdon said the Professional Standards Unit investigated Branson for an incident on May 21, 2024, and he received a 15-day suspension for violating Louisville Metro Department of Corrections policies.<\/p>\n
Logsdon said Metro Corrections was made aware on Thursday (05\/15) that Officer Chase Branson was being charged with Official Misconduct 1st degree and Assault 4 stemming from the May 2024 incident. Louisville Metro Department of Corrections is fully cooperating with the investigation and will assist investigators where needed.<\/p>\n
Branson is expected in court in July. Louisville Metro Department of Corrections confirmed he is on unpaid administrative leave pending this case.
