Emergency officials said the damaged area is small but devastated.<\/p>\n
Long Run Road is a single-lane path. Parts of it were blocked by fallen tree limbs after the storm, slowing emergency responders.<\/p>\n
Washington County Emergency Manager Kevin Devine said two homes were destroyed, as well as several outbuildings. He explained there is no storm siren in this part of the county. He said the 911 center sent out alerts to phones, but he didn\u2019t know if the warning reached people on Long Run Road in time.<\/p>\n
Four people were rescued from one home. One from another house. Authorities said two were able to escape and get to the hospital on their own. Three people that were taken to the local hospital were transferred to the University of Kentucky to receive treatment for their injuries. The storm killed one person.<\/p>\n
Power crews brought in heavy equipment and new power poles to try and get the lights back on in the area.
