Vernon B. Aleshire Jr., 65, of Elizabethtown, died in the two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 4:44 p.m. Tuesday. An off-duty Radcliff police officer came upon the crash moments after it happened, according to Radcliff Police Chief Jeff Cross.<\/p>\n
Cross said Officer Nick Kearney was headed home after completing his shift and immediately notified authorities. Radcliff officers used up to three fire extinguishers trying to control the fire in the Chevrolet Tahoe and required further assistance from the Radcliff Fire Department.<\/p>\n
Based on the preliminary investigation, police said Aleshire was headed south on South Boundary Road when he pulled onto Ky. 313, which also is known as Joe Prather Highway. His vehicle entered the path of a Nissan 350Z being driven by 58 year-old Gary D. Foreman Jr. of Radcliff.<\/p>\n
Cross described the wreck as a T-bone collision. Apparently, because of the car\u2019s low profile, the front end went under the SUV, causing it to flip.<\/p>\n
Foreman was transported to Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown for treatment of his injuries.<\/p>\n
The highway was closed four hours while investigators examined the area and debris was cleared.<\/p>\n
The collision remains under investigation by the Radcliff Police Department.
