Recently, the water station was shutdown after utilities were disconnected on private property. After a brief discussion, county leaders will research the possible impacted residents and see what can be done to provide water to those impacted.<\/p>\n<p>Magistrates were provided information on recovery efforts from the recent rounds of severe weather and flooding in the county. Monica Myles with the US Small Business Administration provided details related to services found at the Disaster Recovery Center located at the command building at the Meade County Fairgrounds. Assistance remains available to those who have need help beyond their insurance or not insured. The US Small Business Administration is available for people impacted that need financial help through low interest loans. The Disaster Recovery Center is open 9 AM until 7 PM Monday through Saturday and 1 to 7 PM on Sundays. The deadline to signup has been extended until July 25. <\/p>\n<p>In other business, the court approved a updated personnel policy and pay scale. They approved the reappointment of Delmar Miller to the Battletown Fire Protection District. Magistrates approved the second reading of the proposed 2025-26 budget totaling $48,685,750. They also approved the first readings of ordinances to adopt the Kentucky Model Procurement Code and street legal special purpose vehicles in relation to a recent state senate bill. The court approved the a resolution and interlocal agreement for Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Fiscal Court approved the audit of the 2023 tax settlement for the Meade County Sheriff&#8217;s Office. They also opened and approved the best bid for new dump truck for the County Road Department once the two received bids have been reviewed. <\/p>\n<p>County leaders voted to proceed to assume Otter Creek Park from Kentucky Fish and Wildlife. The state agency unanimously voted to deed over the park with the exception of the the gun range and adjacent road. Meade County officials voted Tuesday night to acquire the park and facilities to be included in the county Parks and Recreation system. The time line remains unknown as the deed transfer process has several steps that must be evaluated. County leaders have already began work to be ready to implement additional offers once the county receive ownership.<\/p>\n<p>The court fell into a major discussion after a zoning change request was presented to the magistrates. The issue and concerns from adjoining property owners focuses on drainage from the property in question how it will impact current erosion issues that farmers are currently attempting to manage. The zoning request is wanted in order to develop a subdivision that could contain 18 new homes and be built in close near a natural gas complex. After several minutes of discussion, the court came up with more questions than answers and set a special called meeting to be held on July 22 at 7 PM to gain further information.<\/p>\n<p>Magistrates met in closed session about a half hour to return with no action taken.
