At around 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, Louisville Metro Police responded to a trouble run in the Park Duvalle neighborhood. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a 6-year-old girl with several blunt force injuries to her head.<\/p>\n
The child was taken to Norton Children\u2019s Hospital and remains in critical condition.<\/p>\n
According to an arrest slip, the victim\u2019s mother, 40 year-old Zeinab Abdi, told Louisville Metro Police that she \u201cfrequently becomes extremely angry and has difficulty controlling herself.\u201d Abdi also told officers that she became overly angry and struck her daughter in the head with a hammer an unknown amount of times.<\/p>\n
The suspect\u2019s son told Louisville Metro Police that while he restrained his mother after the incident, she told him, \u201clet me finish her\u201d while trying to return to the victim.<\/p>\n
Abdi is being held in the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections.
