\nThe Kentucky State Police Post 03 received a call just before 6 p.m. Sunday (06\/22) about a possible injury collision at the 30-mile marker on Interstate 65.<\/p>\n

Before Troopers arrived on the scene, Post 03 received another call indicating that 22 year-old Christian Smith, of Flossmoor, Illinois, was involved in the collision and had carjacked a black Subaru Forester and was fleeing the scene.<\/p>\n
Smith was later spotted traveling north on US 31-W, where Kentucky State Police troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop. Smith continued on US 31-W until he was finally stopped on the northbound on-ramp to Interstate-65 in Park City.<\/p>\n
He was taken into custody and lodged at the Warren County Regional Jail.<\/p>\n
Smith faces the following charges:<\/p>\n
Speeding (20 MPH over the speed limit)
\nReckless Driving
\nFleeing or Evading Police, 1st Degree (motor vehicle)
\nLeaving the scene of an accident-failure to render aid or assistance
\nCarjacking (attempt)
\nTBUT (over $10,000 but less than $1,000,000)
\nTwo counts of Criminal Mischief, 1st Degree
\nResisting Arrest
\nDUI
\nAssault, 4th Degree<\/p>\n
The investigation is ongoing by the Kentucky State Police.
