\nWith less than a week until the Fourth of July holiday, the U.S. Postal Service is sending out an important reminder about fireworks.<\/p>\n

The U.S. Postal Service says fireworks of any kind \u2013 like sparklers, firecrackers, bottle rockets and Roman candles \u2013 are considered hazardous and are banned from all air and ground transportation because they pose a threat to safety.<\/p>\n

\u201cShipping fireworks through the mail puts our employees, customers and transportation networks at serious risk,\u201d acting Postmaster General and CEO Doug Tulino said in a statement. \u201cEven small items like firecrackers or bottle rockets can cause fires, explosions or injuries if mishandled.\u201d<\/p>\n

U.S. Postal Service has different tools and technology to detect items deemed nonmailable.<\/p>\n

If you are caught trying to mail fireworks, you could face criminal charges, civil penalties and other consequences.<\/p>\n

In 2024, U.S. Postal Service said they opened 1,700 investigations regarding customers attempting to send hazardous materials through the mail system.<\/p>\n
