The company, Western Hospitality Partners (WHP), said it aimed to work with local stakeholders and held open house meetings to explain the benefits of the data center to the community. <\/p>\n
A company spokesperson said in keeping with Western Hospitality Partners’ commitment to the community, the project will be withdrawn and will not proceed. <\/p>\n
The controversial data center was originally going to be located at 3557 North Highway 53, but after facing criticism from neighbors, a proposal was put forth to move to the site of the Sauerbeck Family Drive-In.<\/p>\n
The spokesperson said while Western Hospitality Partners currently has no plans to develop a data center in Oldham County, it emphasized that Kentucky remains a state full of opportunity and strong interest for future projects.<\/p>\n
The facility would have supported digital services like websites, apps, cloud storage, artificial intelligence and streaming platforms.<\/p>\n
The moratorium’s stated purpose was to give the fiscal court time to establish data center guidelines.
