\nTeam Kentucky will once again offer a statewide event on Saturday, August 2, to help interested Kentuckians obtain their permit.<\/p>\n

Appointments are available to all Kentuckians who are eligible to apply. According to state law, applicants must be at least 15 years of age to apply.<\/p>\n

More than 1,300 written permit test appointments will be available on August 2 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at 12 locations, which include Bowling Green, Burlington, Catlettsburg, Elizabethtown, Frankfort, Independence, Jackson, Lexington (Leestown Road), Louisville (Bowman Field), Maysville, Morehead and Pikeville. Applicants can take the test at any of the 12 counties offered. The Kentucky State Police, which administers state driver testing, will release the appointments on Friday, July 18, beginning at 2 p.m. EDT through the online scheduling portal<\/a>. This one-day event does not include road skills or CDL testing.<\/p>\n

In May, Kentucky State Police and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, which issues the permit license to applicants who pass the written test, held the first statewide testing event, where 1,104 permit tests were administered.<\/p>\n

To ensure a smooth and fair scheduling process, Kentucky State Police Driver Testing Captain Chris Baker said those seeking appointments should prepare necessary documentation and understand that any appointments made using false information or multiple entries under the same name will automatically be canceled. All applicants are asked to provide accurate information when signing up for a slot.<\/p>\n

All permit tests must be scheduled through the Kentucky State Police’s website at kentuckystatepolice.ky.gov\/driver-testing<\/a>. Prior to arriving to take the test, Kentuckians should remember to:<\/p>\n

Bring all required documentation to take to your appointment so the permit test can be administered. Necessary documents include proof of identity such as birth certificate (not a photocopy), proof of Social Security and a School Compliance Verification Form.<\/p>\n

Study the Kentucky Driver Manual. Should an applicant not pass the written test, they can schedule another appointment using the online portal.<\/p>\n

On August 2, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Driver Licensing Regional Office staff will also be on-site to issue permit licenses to those who pass the written test. The other regional offices will be open from 8 a.m. to noon for all licensing services as part of the once-a-month Saturday hours.<\/p>\n

Governor Andy Beshear signed House Bill 15 into law on March 25, which allows 15-year-olds to obtain their permit. As of mid-July, more than 17,000 15-year-olds have earned their permit. State law still requires you to be 16 years old to obtain an intermediate license.
