On July 8, a jury convicted Houck of murder and tampering with physical evidence in Rogers’ 2015 disappearance.<\/p>\n
Rogers\u2019 mom, Sherry Ballard, and her family have a pending wrongful death lawsuit against Houck accusing him of \u201cintentionally and wrongfully” causing the Bardstown mom’s death.<\/p>\n
Days after Houck’s conviction, on July 18, the family filed a motion for temporary injunction accusing Houck of trying to sell and transfer his property to shield himself from any judgement awarded in the lawsuit.<\/p>\n
A judge previously noted that Houck owned 83 properties in Nelson County, worth an estimated value of around $8,500,000.<\/p>\n
After Houck\u2019s conviction in Rogers\u2019 murder, court documents said he made multiple calls from the jail to his girlfriend, Crystal Maupin and multiple family members including his mother, Rosemary Houck, and his brother, Nick Houck.<\/p>\n
In those calls, Houck encouraged his family to sell off his properties, vehicles and equipment.<\/p>\n
The motion cited another jail call Houck made to his sister Rhonda McIlvoy.<\/p>\n
During the calls, the Houcks and Maupin kept bringing up the same man as a potential buyer. <\/p>\n
The lawsuit said that man confirmed he was contacted to see if he was interested in purchasing property owned by Houck.<\/p>\n
On Monday, July 28, a Nelson County judge granted the family\u2019s motion for a temporary injunction ordering Houck to not sell or transfer any of his or his company\u2019s assets.<\/p>\n
An evidentiary hearing has been scheduled for October 8, 2025.
