That milestone comes almost four years after the announcement where Governor Andy Beshear and company leaders celebrated the $5.8 billion investment. Batteries at the plant will go into the all-electric Ford F-150 Lightning trucks.<\/p>\n
Beshear, SK On and Ford Motor Company announced plans to build two electric battery plants in Glendale in September 2021. Officials broke ground on the site near I-65 in late 2022 and a groundbreaking for a $25 million BlueOval SK Training Center at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College in May 2023.<\/p>\n
So far, over 1,450 of the expected 5,000 jobs created by the plant have been filled. Those employees gathered on the plant\u2019s campus to celebrate the launch.<\/p>\n
The production news also comes shortly after Ford announced a $2 billion investment at the Louisville Assembly Plant to produce an electric mid-sized pickup truck.
