The incident happened on Saturday at Jan Fletcher\u2019s Maple Avenue home. Fletcher\u2019s home doorbell camera captured video evidence of a man, who she believes is a teenager, asking her strange questions before inappropriately touching and rubbing on her backside.<\/p>\n
Fletcher has lived in her home for 55 years and said nothing like this has ever happened. She filed a police report, and her granddaughter shared the footage on social media, garnering thousands of views from across the city.<\/p>\n
Fletcher said she thinks the stranger was looking for her keys or feeling for cash. She said he asked at one point if someone was sleeping in her house. Several online commenters hypothesized that it could be part of a bizarre social media trend.<\/p>\n
According to Louisville Metro Police Department, the case is being investigated by the department\u2019s seventh division. As of Tuesday evening, no one was arrested or identified. Louisville police went on to say that there is no evidence that there is any widespread crime trend reported of males grouping senior women.<\/p>\n
Louisville Metro Police Department offered some advice to the community, saying, \u201cAs always, we advise that the elderly are often the victims of scams, harassment, and home invasion which often start with suspicious questions at the door. Here are some tips to consider:<\/p>\n
Trust your instincts. If a person or situation makes you feel uneasy, trust your gut feeling. Acknowledge the potential threat and take action to stay safe.
\nTake note of your surroundings. Pay attention to potential hiding spots for an attacker, such as alleys, doorways, large bushes, or between parked vans. When walking past these areas, give them a wide berth.
\nLook for warning signs. Stay alert for suspicious behaviors, like someone following you on foot or in a vehicle. If you notice this, change directions, cross the street, or enter a business to signal that you have noticed them.<\/p>\n
