This traffic safety initiative is happening August 29 through September 1 and is focused on keeping Kentucky’s roadways safe during a major travel holiday.<\/p>\n
Throughout the Labor Day weekend, troopers will increase patrols on highways and interstates, with special attention given to impaired driving, speeding, distracted driving and failure to wear seatbelts. The goal is simple: reduce crashes and save lives.<\/p>\n
Kentucky State Police offers these safety reminders for drivers this Labor Day:<\/p>\n
Plan Ahead \u2013 If you plan to drink, arrange a safe ride before you start. Designate a driver, use a rideshare or stay overnight.
\nWear Your Seatbelt \u2013 It is the simplest step you can take to protect yourself in a crash, and it is required by law.
\nMove Over for Emergency Vehicles \u2013 Give first responders room to work safely. If you can’t change lanes, slow down significantly.
\nPut the Phone Away \u2013 Distracted driving is dangerous. Keep your focus on the road.<\/p>\n
In concordance with Operation C.A.R.E, if you see a suspected impaired driver, do not hesitate to contact your local Kentucky State Police Post or law enforcement agency.
