Louisville police said officers were called to the crash around 9:50 a.m. in 12000 block of Dixie Highway. Once there, they found several vehicles involved in the collision spanning both northbound and southbound lanes.<\/p>\n
Investigations revealed that a vehicle was driving south on Dixie Highway when the driver attempted to change lanes and struck another vehicle that was also driving south.<\/p>\n
The first vehicle crossed into the northbound lanes and hit a third vehicle. The third vehicle then crashed into a fourth vehicle that was also driving northbound.<\/p>\n
The driver of the first vehicle was declared dead at the scene.<\/p>\n
Two people were in the second vehicle, but neither of them was injured.<\/p>\n
The driver of the third vehicle was taken to UofL Hospital with critical injuries, where they were later also pronounced dead.<\/p>\n
No one in the fourth vehicle was injured.<\/p>\n
Dixie Highway was closed for several hours to allow for reconstruction and debris removal.<\/p>\n
The accident remains under investigation by LMPD\u2019s Traffic Unit.
