The Lexington Police arrested 21-year-old Laken Snelling on Sunday. <\/p>\n
Snelling is charged with abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence and concealing the birth of an infant.<\/p>\n
According to her arrest citation, officers responded to a home in the 400 block of Park Avenue around 10:30 a.m. on August 27 after the baby was found unresponsive in a closet.<\/p>\n
Police discovered infant\u2019s body wrapped in a towel inside a black trash bag, according to the citation.<\/p>\n
The Fayette County Coroner’s Office has not released the infant’s cause of death, however police said Snelling was the child’s mother.<\/p>\n
UK spokesperson Jay Blanton confirmed Snelling is a senior at the school and member of the university\u2019s Stunt Team.<\/p>\n
Snelling is being held at the Fayette County Detention Center. Her arraignment is set for Tuesday, September 2.
