\nA new technology company, OgMentum ARK, announced Tuesday it will locate its headquarters and research and development hub in Bowling Green, bringing high-tech fiber optics work to South Central Kentucky.<\/p>\n
\nA new technology company, OgMentum ARK, announced Tuesday it will locate its headquarters and research and development hub in Bowling Green, bringing high-tech fiber optics work to South Central Kentucky.<\/p>\n
The firm will be located at Western Kentucky University\u2019s Innovation Campus, which will be a hub for both manufacturing and research focused on advancing fiber optics.<\/p>\n
Formed through the merger of two innovation-focused firms, OgMentum ARK will develop and manufacture fiber optic technologies for communications, telecommunications, structural monitoring and gas sensing. Company officials said the venture will serve commercial and national defense markets.<\/p>\n
The project is expected to create at least 25 high-paying jobs within three years, including positions for scientists, engineers, technicians and administrators. Regional economic leaders project the move will generate nearly $196 million in long-term impact for the local economy.<\/p>\n
OgMentum ARK President Jake Weise said Bowling Green offers the workforce and partnerships the company needs to grow.<\/p>\n
CEO Dr. Kent Murphy said the company has been working closely with the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce and Western Kentucky University. The firm plans to partner with WKU to train fiber optics specialists and expand the region\u2019s technology talent pipeline.<\/p>\n
OgMentum ARK is also pursuing federal research funding through agencies including the Department of Defense, NASA, the Department of Energy and the National Science Foundation.
