Louisville Metro Police Department said around 8:20 p.m., a 6-year-old was reported missing from the 2300 block of Pike Peak Boulevard near Iroquois Park. Immediately, officers began an extensive search of the area alongside LMPD\u2019s Air Unit.<\/p>\n
Police said that during the investigation, officers received information that the child \u201cmay have had diminished capacity and possibly was autistic.\u201d This turned their efforts to looking at nearby water hazards, including pools.<\/p>\n
The child was tragically found by officers in a nearby pool around 8:50 p.m., according to Louisville Metro Police Department. Officers began life-saving measures, and the child was then transported to Norton Children\u2019s Hospital, where they later died.<\/p>\n
The Louisville Metro Police Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident.
