Following a nine-day trial in July, Brooks Houck and Joseph Lawson were convicted in the Bardstown woman\u2019s 2015 disappearance and assumed murder.<\/p>\n
Houck, Rogers\u2019 ex-boyfriend, was found guilty of murder (principle or accomplice) and tampering with physical evidence. Lawson was found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence.<\/p>\n
The jury recommended both men serve the maximum prison sentence: life in prison for Houck and 25 years for Lawson.<\/p>\n
Houck and Lawson\u2019s sentencing is expected to begin at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17.<\/p>\n
Sentencing for both men was originally scheduled for August 21, however Nelson County Judge Charles Simms pushed it back due to Lawson\u2019s ongoing serious health issues.<\/p>\n
During Wednesday\u2019s hearing, Simms will likely take up any pending motions. <\/p>\n
Lawson\u2019s attorneys still have two pending motions, including one to set aside his guilty verdict or grant him a new trial.
