In July, Brooks Houck and Joseph Lawson were found guilty in the 2015 disappearance and presumed murder of Rogers. Their sentencing was supposed to be in late August, but was delayed due to ongoing health issues with Lawson.<\/p>\n
The Commonwealth also asked a judge to deny a request for a retrial for the two men.<\/p>\n
Joseph Lawson\u2019s father, Steven, was convicted of conspiracy to murder and tampering with physical evidence earlier in the summer and was sentenced to 17 years in prison.<\/p>\n
Joseph was convicted of the same charges.<\/p>\n
Houck, Rogers\u2019 boyfriend at the time of her disappearance, was convicted of murder principal or accomplice to the crime as well as tampering with physical evidence.<\/p>\n
A jury in Warren County recommended a life sentence for Houck and 25 years for Joseph Lawson.<\/p>\n
Houck has agreed to surrender custody of the child he shared with Rogers to his sister. According to court documents filed Monday, Houck\u2019s sister Rhonda McIlvoy was granted custody of Houck\u2019s 12-year-old son.<\/p>\n
The judge gave both Lawson and Houck the maximum sentence.<\/p>\n
Lawson was sentenced to 20 years for conspiracy to murder and five years for tampering with evidence, with both sentences to be served consecutively.<\/p>\n
Houck was sentenced to life in prison for conspiracy to murder and five years for tampering with evidence, to be served concurrently.
