\nAn Ohio man is facing fraud charges after police say he impersonated an officer to scam a Kentucky woman out of money.<\/p>\n

It all began on September 17 when authorities in Clay County said a woman had been contacted by a man who told her she would be charged with crimes and was told to get money.<\/p>\n
While the victim was speaking to the Clay County Sheriff\u2019s Office, a deputy heard a man in the background tell the woman over the phone to go home and wait until no one was around. He would call and come by her house.<\/p>\n
Later that day, Clay County 911 said 21-year-old Danil Dovzhuk, of Loveland, Ohio, showed up at the victim\u2019s home and the family had confronted him. They told police Dovzhuk had fled the scene.<\/p>\n
A deputy caught up with Dovzhuk, stopping him at U.S. 421 and U.S. 11 junction. The vehicle, according to police, had interceptor markers and appeared to be an unmarked car. Dovzhuk was detained.<\/p>\n
As the investigation developed, police said the victim\u2019s son arrived at the scene stating that Dovzhuk had \u201ctaken a substantial amount of money.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dovzhuk has been charged with theft by deception and impersonating a peace officer.<\/p>\n
He is currently being held at the Clay County Detention Center without bond.<\/p>\n
Clay County is about three hours south of Louisville.
