\nKentucky Governor Andy Beshear is traveling internationally this week in an ongoing effort by his administration to boost the state’s job growth and attract foreign companies.<\/p>\n
The governor will travel to the United Kingdom, Ireland and France to meet with business leaders and trade officials to give Kentucky a footprint in the region, leading to more jobs for Kentuckians.<\/p>\n
During the visit, the governor will meet with more than 45 companies, 16 of which already have a presence in the commonwealth, employing about 4,000 in the state. Those companies already in the state also have ongoing projects that potentially could bring an additional 2,900 full-time jobs with more than a $3.5 billion investment in the state. <\/p>\n
Also during his visit, Beshear will meet with trade officials from the United Kingdom and France, which are the state’s second and third-largest export markets respectively. <\/p>\n
Kentucky has more than 530 internationally-owned companies employing more than 115,000 people throughout the state, according to a news release. The state is also home to 26 U.K.-based companies that employ more than 2,700 people, 40 French-owned businesses employing more than 5,600 people and eight Irish-owned business that employs almost 1,000 people.
