According to a press release, dispatch received a report of a disturbance happening at a home in the 2300 block of Woodland Drive in the Sorgho community.<\/p>\n
Officials say the caller stated that a man, later identified as 33-year-old Zachary Hudson, was causing a disturbance by yelling, screaming and banging on several of the neighbors\u2019 doors, allegedly trying to enter residences.<\/p>\n
Deputies were informed that Hudson had an active parole warrant out for his arrest.<\/p>\n
Upon arrival, deputies were told that Hudson had run toward the Marathon gas station on Highway 56 and that he possibly had a handgun.<\/p>\n
Deputies located Hudson in the parking lot standing by a vehicle sweating profusely and speaking incoherently.<\/p>\n
As a deputy attempted to take Hudson into custody, he began to resist and then fight with the deputy. He eventually ran towards a house in the 6500 block of Highway 56 where he tried to gain entry through the front door.<\/p>\n
The deputy ran after him and drew his service weapon while ordering him to surrender. During this time the homeowner opened the front door to see what was happening and the deputy ordered them to close and lock the door and to call 911.<\/p>\n
Additional deputies arrived and assisted in taking Hudson into custody, during which time Hudson continued to fight and resist and attempted to bite and spit on the deputies.<\/p>\n
A taser was used on Hudson three times with little effect, and he was eventually handcuffed. He continued to resist and scream incoherently and was taken to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital by AMR Ambulance Service with a deputy riding in the ambulance with him to keep him under control.<\/p>\n
Hudson was treated for injuries and admitted to the hospital for treatment related to his having ingested unknown substances prior to the disturbance.<\/p>\n
Methamphetamine was found in Hudson\u2019s pants pockets during his arrest, and a Glock handgun was found on the ground along the path that Hudson had fled while being chased from the gas station parking lot.<\/p>\n
Two Daviess County Sheriff deputies were treated at the hospital for minor injuries and underwent exposure testing due to the threat of cross contamination from Hudson\u2019s saliva and blood.<\/p>\n
Hudson is currently under guard at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in custody of Kentucky Probation and Parole officers with the Department of Corrections.<\/p>\n
