Robert Charles Womble III, 38, has been charged with assault, tampering with physical evidence and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. The charges stem from a shooting that happened on November 5 in the 1100 block of Royal Gardens Court.<\/p>\n
Louisville Metro Police Department said the incident began when the victim was in an apartment\u2019s common area, and Womble came in and started an argument. Womble then allegedly got a gun and fired multiple shots at the 19-year-old, hitting him once in the back.<\/p>\n
Police said Womble fled the scene in a car and got rid of his gun. He then allegedly returned on foot and told police he was there when the shooting happened.<\/p>\n
The teenager was taken to UofL Hospital, where he was initially in critical condition. Police said that while he is still receiving medical care, he is expected to survive.<\/p>\n
Womble was arrested on November 13. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and is being held in the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections on a $100,000 bond. He is expected back in court on November 24.
