Brett Hankison was sentenced in July for his role in the botched raid that ended Taylor\u2019s life in 2020.<\/p>\n
In October, Hankison reported to a federal prison in New Jersey to begin his 33 month sentence.<\/p>\n
In November, the United States Department of Justice asked for Hankson to be released pending appeal of his case.<\/p>\n
On Friday, December 19, a United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit judge granted the motion.<\/p>\n
In the filing, the judge cites \u201csubstantial questions\u201d in the case and Hankison\u2019s lack of danger to the community or potential of being a flight risk as reasons for granting the motion.<\/p>\n
Additionally, the judge agreed that threats Hankison received in prison, requiring him to be moved to special housing, further supported the decision to grant him bail pending appeal.
