They say the number of fatal overdoses decreased by thirty percent in 2025 from one year prior.

Norton said 2022 was the highest number of drug overdose cases in Hardin county, and that number was 55.

Norton said the total of fatal overdoses in Hardin county were 28 in 2025 with victims ages 20 to 71. In 2024, she said the number stood at 42, with victims in ages from 17 to 71, and 37 fatalities in 2023, with an age range of 24 to 75.

She said the Quick Response Team connects patients with everything from counseling to detox program after first responders arrive on scene and revive them.

Norton added that once the 911 call comes in, the EMS crews have been trained, and they have a QR code, and they are able to scan that code, and do a referral to the Hardin county Quick Response Team.

She stated that Narcan-dispensing machines set up outside several public offices where people can get the life-saving treatments to help those experiencing overdose effects.

She added the Quick Response Team launched after Hardin County received a grant to obtain opioid abatement money. The County will be going back to the state this year to request those same funds, and more to continue their efforts.
Source: WAVE

In Hardin County a plan to help curb fatal overdoses is working, according to Hardin County Chief Deputy Coroner Shana Norton.

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[69

0":"post-54854","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-archive","8":"entry

https://i0.wp.com/www.wvih.com/wp1/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/prevent-drug-overdose.jpg?fit=640%2C480&ssl=1
"publishpress_future_workflow_manual_trigger":
["GET
