The incident occurred on January 9 at the Thornton\u2019s on Cane Run Road. According to officials, 54 year-old James Sullivan walked into the gas station and picked up donuts and poured himself a coffee. That is not a crime, but what police say happened next is.<\/p>\n
As he walked by the cashier, he bypassed the point of sale and flashed a silver badge on his hip.<\/p>\n
The employee contacted authorities. Police began an investigation and say that it wasn\u2019t the first time Sullivan had done this.<\/p>\n
He was identified and taken into custody on Tuesday, January 13. He was charged with impersonating a police officer and theft by unlawful taking. Court documents reveal Sullivan is a convicted felon with a lengthy criminal history.
