On Saturday, January 31, LMPD\u2019s Violent Crime Unit conducted surveillance around 4 p.m. on a repeat violent crime offender in the 8200 block of Blue Lick Road.<\/p>\n
The offender, 40-year-old Daniel Thorpe, was wanted on two felony complaint warrants for escape and stalking.<\/p>\n
Detectives confirmed Thorpe was inside the home and said that he was refusing to surrender himself over, prompting police to obtain a search warrant and request SWAT to the scene.<\/p>\n
After the other residents of the building were evacuated, SWAT attempted to convince Thorpe to surrender peacefully, but he continued to refuse.<\/p>\n
Louisville Metro Police Department said following an extended standoff, Thorpe told officers they would \u201chave to kill him\u201d before he came out.<\/p>\n
A LMPD K9 unit was eventually used to help take the 40-year-old into custody.<\/p>\n
According to Louisville Metro Police Department, Thorpe was then taken to UofL Hospital to receive treatment for a dog-bite injury that occurred as he was arrested.<\/p>\n
Thorpe\u2019s charges from Saturday, in addition to his outstanding warrants, have not yet been confirmed.
