A jury convicted Morris in January and recommended a 165-year sentence. State law capped the sentence at 70 years. Jefferson County Circuit Court Judge Eric Haner imposed the maximum.<\/p>\n
Morris had spent years on home incarceration after being charged. His only visible reaction to the sentence was briefly shaking his head as he was led from the courtroom, after saying \u201cI love you\u201d to a family member.<\/p>\n
The judge credited the survivors for coming forward and telling their stories multiple times.
