On April 12, Kentucky State Police Post 2 Dispatch were notified of a carjacking and assault incident at the Family Dollar\/Dollar Tree located at 230 South Madisonville Street in Crofton.<\/p>\n
Christian County Dispatch advised the incident possibly involved two escaped inmates from the Christian County Detention Center who walked away from a work detail a short time prior.<\/p>\n
Troopers located the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the Western Kentucky Parkway near the 60 mile-marker; however, the driver refused to stop and fled northbound on the parkway at high speeds.<\/p>\n
The pursuit continued through Muhlenberg, Ohio, and Grayson counties, where the vehicle was ultimately stopped near the 108 mile-marker. Assisting agencies used a tire deflation device, successfully stopping the vehicle.<\/p>\n
Law enforcement identified the driver as escaped inmate 30 year-old Elijah Boodoosignh, of Hopkinsville. Boodoosignh was charged with the following:<\/p>\n
Fleeing or evading police
\n1st degree in a motor vehicle
\nSpeeding 26 mph or greater on a limited access road
\nReckless driving; wanton endangerment 1st degree
\nFleeing or evading police 2nd degree
\nResisting arrest
\nPossession of marijuana
\nPossession of alcohol beverage in a motor vehicle
\nLicense to be in possession
\nEscape 2nd degree<\/p>\n
A passenger, who also escaped the detention center, was identified as 39 year-old James Stull, of Covington. He was charged with escape 2nd degree. A second passenger was identified as 31 year-old Caitlyn Burchett, of Louisville.<\/p>\n
Burchett was not charged.<\/p>\n
Boodoosignh was lodged in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center, and Stull was transported back to the Christian County Detention Center.<\/p>\n
The investigation is ongoing.
