\nKentucky lawmakers are moving forward with restoring the state’s death penalty despite Governor Andy Beshear’s veto.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, the General Assembly overrode Beshear’s veto of Senate Bill 251. <\/p>\n

The bill allows the Department of Corrections to set execution procedures through internal policies, which must be published publicly online.<\/p>\n

In March, Coleman’s office argued before a Franklin Circuit Court to dismiss a 2006 case which is at the center of Kentucky\u2019s 15-year ban on executions.<\/p>\n

A dismissal would pave the way for more than 20 executions in Kentucky.<\/p>\n

There are 24 inmates on Kentucky’s death row, according to Attorney General Russell Coleman.
