According to a news release from the Office of the Governor, Kentucky was included in the Rural Payment Acceleration Pilot program by UnitedHealthcare.<\/p>\n
The program helps local hospitals \u201cget paid faster, cut down on paperwork and increase care for families,\u201d the news release said, and seeks to strengthen these facilities through more reliable and quicker payments.<\/p>\n
Hospitals part of the initial rollout include Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana, Murray-Calloway County Public Hospital in Murray, Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville and T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.<\/p>\n
For the four original states included in the pilot, the news release said the program helped hospitals receive Medicare Advantage payments faster, with payment times decreasing from fewer than 30 days to fewer to 15 days.<\/p>\n
Along with Kentucky, the program expanded to Alabama, Arkansas, Virginia and West Virginia, bringing the total number of states part of the program to nine.
