According to Kentucky State Police, the crash happened just before 5 a.m. on US 68, also known as the Danville Highway.<\/p>\n
Detectives said a preliminary investigation revealed that 43 year-old Mahalia Brown, of Magnolia, Mississippi, was driving west on US 68 when she crossed the centerline and into the path of a dump truck.<\/p>\n
Kentucky State Police said the driver of the dump truck tried to avoid hitting Brown’s car by braking and steering, but was unable to do so.<\/p>\n
The two vehicles crashed into each other head-on, according to authorities.<\/p>\n
Brown and another passenger in her car, 20-year-old Benjamin Thompson, of Magnolia, Mississippi, were pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n
Another person in Brown’s car, 22-year-old Darian Thompson, of Magnolia, Mississippi, was transported to Spring View Hospital with serious injuries.<\/p>\n
The dump truck driver was also taken to the hospital, but suffered minor injuries in the crash.<\/p>\n
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
