The court approved ten rezoning requests and moved to return a request for A2 to R1 on property along Payne Road owned by Goodwin Properties LLC. Most of the of rezoning requests were approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission in March. <\/p>\n
In other business, magistrates approved the first reading of the proposed 2026-27 fiscal year budget which totals $40,854,150. The court is expected to consider the second reading during their June regular meeting. The court approved the resolution and agreement for the Rural Secondary Road Funds which is generated by the state’s gas tax which totaled $1,229,034. They also approved a single bid from Joe Mangin for a Information Technology Consultant contract for the next fiscal year. A single fuel bid from Midway Petroleum was approved the court for county use. <\/p>\n
The court approved the appointments of Carolyn Kendall to the Meade County Fire District; Bridgette Price to the CKCAC Board as a Low Income Representative; Lynn Biddle to the Battletown Fire Department; Monica Pack to the Flaherty Fire Department Board; Mike Greenwell to the Ekron Fire Department and Tim LaTondress to the Planning and Zoning Board of Adjustments.<\/p>\n
The court tabled a resolution to create a Mobile Vendor Permit for the County Parks and Recreation Areas. The permit would require anyone who makes a profit by selling items in a county park at a cost of $50 each day. During discussion of the resolution, it was discovered that a waiver for documented charitable organizations or causes was not addressed in the document requiring it to be added before the court’s approval.<\/p>\n
County Road Supervisor Jeff Padgett reported to magistrates, a estimate of $17,000 for repairs needed along Ditto Lane. Magistrate Gary Chapman read a proclamation to rededicate Meade County as “One Nation Under God.” Judge Executive Troy Kok announced the next town hall meeting will be held on Monday, May 18 at 6 pm, located at the Meade County Extension Office. He also announced the Meade County Courthouse and county offices will be closed on Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day.<\/p>\n
At end of the meeting, the court went into a closed session for the purpose to discuss proposed or pending litigation against or on behalf of the public agency. Magistrates returned after the nearly an hour closed session to take no action.<\/p>\n
